Please respond to the following questions. You just add a comment and you can log on throughout the week and respond to others comments. Let's get some good conversation going.
Read John 4:1-26
1. What sources of "water" had she used to try to fill her life?

2. What kind of water did Jesus offer her instead?

3. How does her life parallel ways your life usually works?

Ok this is the first time I have ever used a blog, and usually I'm a little shy about trying to answer questions that I'm not sure are right. But I'm going to dive in and let Gods living water fill me up. I think the water that she used to try to fill her life was the 5 husbands and the man she was living with. Maybe they offered her things that she didn't have in her life ( material things, money, or words) So many people believe that if they had this or that their lives would be so much better. If they just had someone to "Love" them they would be filled. But then their love isn't what you thought it was and you become thirsty again.

Jesus offered the woman living water. A everlasting life, and love that would keep her from ever being thirsty again. It would fill her up and even overflow. Giving her self-confidance not to have to look for it in other ways.

If I'm not looking at this right, please let me know. Charla

We agree about where she was getting her "water." She was looking for it in her husbands and the man she was with. We parallel our lives with the Samaritan woman as we have a tendency to dwell on the things God has provided for us and have a tendency to forget that God Himself is providing.

Thanks for responding. I agree, God is the giver of all good things and those things are intended to direct our thoughts and vision towards him. Yet we tend to focus on just the things. God is the Creator and we tend to focus on his Creation. When his creation and his good gifts are meant to draw us towards him. Praise God, He is Good!
